¡Hola! My name is Señora Grattan, and I teach elementary Spanish with Grosse Pointe Public Schools. This year I am teaching at Mason, Poupard, Kerby, Monteith, Maire, and Richard. This is my third year with the program, and I am so excited to work with our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders again! I use songs, games, TPRS and skits to teach reading, writing, speaking and listening in Spanish. Your child will usually have Spanish once per week for 40-50 minutes.
I graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in K-12 Spanish education and history, and this is my 8th year teaching. I lived in Spain for 9 months during my time at Bowling Green State University as a part of their study abroad program, and I later took groups of students to Puerto Rico as a high school teacher. I taught at the secondary level for five years before moving to the elementary level, and love both equally! I enjoy watching students fall in love with the world around them, and I know that learning a second language and being bilingual is truly a blessing. Be it Spanish or another language, I hope that your children fall in love with another language and learn to appreciate another culture.
When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family. I have a wonderful husband, two beautiful little girls, and a few fur balls that we adopted from local shelters. We recently moved back home to Michigan to be near family after nearly a decade in Ohio, and I feel so blessed to be working in this beautiful community. I am looking forward to a wonderful year here in Grosse Pointe!
